Why StickTape.com?
We started our business to service your needs. Over the years, our staff has provided tape for some of the most prominent marching organizations in the world, including the 1984 Olympic All-American Band, 1986 Statue of Liberty All-American Band, Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps and many others.
Our tape was selected specifically to address the needs of percussion members, instructors and caption heads.
Impressive 108' Per Roll You get an impressive 108 feet of tape per roll. Our tape is stocked in two widths, 3/4 and 2. It can also be special ordered in other widths between 1/4 and 3.
Better Tape for Less Our tape is less expensive per foot than electrical tape and other name-brand adhesive tapes.
More Durability Our tape consistently outlasts electrical tape because of its thinner yet denser, industrial grade PVC vinyl backing. Our tape is 6 mil thin, whereas most electrical tape is 7 mil or 8 mil. Also, with the denser and thinner backing comes benefits such as longer stick life and reduced vibration.
No Shrinkage Our tape is superior to electrical tape in that it stretches enough to adjust to the contours and compound curves of a stick while not being so elastic that it shrinks after its taped.
Specially Formulated Adhesive Our adhesive compound is not like the gooey adhesives used in electrical tape. This prevents the adhesive from sticking to your hands while playing. Our adhesive is very strong and stands up to temperatures over 150°F.
Superior Look and Feel Our tape features a unique matte finish, which provides two advantages: Less glare from stadium lighting, resulting in a superior look to other name brand tapes or electrical tape. Improved grip.
13 Colors! We offer 13 colors, including clear enough to meet your needs. Also, our colors are more brilliant and true than electrical tape. Those colors are:
- white
- black
- yellow
- red
- orange
- purple
- gray
- light blue
- dark blue
- brown
- light green
- dark green
- clear
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Isn't your tape just colored electrical tape? A: Our tape is not electrical tape. It is tape that has been specifically selected for suitability as stick and mallet wrapping tape. Our tape is 6 mil thick, compared to 7 mil or 8 mil used in electrical tape. This means there is less tape weight affecting the balance of the implement. The PVC vinyl backing in our tape is denser than electrical tape, making it more durable and impervious to damage and shrinkage than electrical tape. Furthermore, many electrical tape brands use an adhesive that tends to leak out around the edges of the tape, whereas our adhesive stands up to temperatures of over 150°F and does not leak. The inner core of electrical tape is typically small in diameter and made of paper whereas our tape's core is made of plastic and large enough to fit your hand inside, making for a more comfortable and convenient taping experience. And finally, StikTape, at 108'' per roll, compared to 66'' per roll of electrical tape, makes for fewer trips to the hardware store.
Q: What colors are available? A: We offer 13 colors: white, black, red, yellow, orange, light green, dark green, light blue, dark blue, brown, purple, gray and clear.
Q: What is the proper width of tape for each piece of equipment? (i.e. snare, tenors, bass) A: We recommend using the 2'' width StikTape for use on metal tenor and bass mallets and 3/4'' width on wooden sticks and mallets.
Q: How many rolls of tape do I need for my drumline? A: This depends on how many members you have in your group, how quickly they go through tape and whether or not your line uses separate performance and practice equipment. Also important is the number of performances per season you will want to have freshly taped equipment available. Email us and we can help you.
